The Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Letsa says plans are underway to extend the recent Fifth Volta Trade and Investment Fair held at Ho to all Municipalities and Districts across the Region. This he said is in line with measures geared towards promoting and improving the local economy of the region and creating job opportunities for the youth.
Dr. Letsa who was speaking at the 65th independence day celebration at Ho urged the people of the region to continue to contribute to national development.
Seraphine Nyuiemedi reports that the Ho Municipal’s Independence day celebration was held in memory of a 14-year-old JHS one pupil of the SDA School, Etornam Gorni Attipoe who collapsed and died during the rehearsals for the independence day parade ten years ago.
A citation was presented to her parents and a sod was cut to erect a monument in her honour.
The Volta Regional Minister, Dr Archibald Letsa described Etornam Gorni Attipoe as a soldier who has sacrificed her life to save many children, saying her tragedy has impacted the nation on how its independence day celebration should be conducted.
The celebration saw 30 contingents, each from security services such as the Ghana Armed Forces, the Ghana Police Service, the Ghana Immigration Service, the Ghana Fire Service, Customs division of the GRA, the Ghana Prisons Service, six Senior High Schools, seventeen Basic and Junior High Schools, Cadet groups among others participating.
At the end, Wallahs Academy SHS’s Cadet Corp was adjudged the best performing group with Mawuli and Ola Senior High Schools placing second and third
