A one-stop centre to give relief to trafficked persons is to be constructed at Adjena-Akwamu in the Eastern Region.

The facility will provide psycho-social as well as around the clock security to persons who are rescued from traffickers.

This initiative is collaboration between the Gender Ministry and an Anti-Human Trafficking Advocate, Nana Ayimedu Brempong, who is also Kontihene of Adjena-Akwamu as well as a Police Detective.

In an interview with GBC’s Rebecca Ekpe, Nana Brempong explained that traditional authorities are critical in the fight against human trafficking, suggesting that a bottom up approach is the way to go in eliminating the menace.
