The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has promoted 17 police officers in recognition of their exceptional professionalism, dedication and outstanding operational performance.

The promotions, which took place on January 27, 2026, were awarded to officers who distinguished themselves during separate security operations that led to significant breakthroughs in crime prevention and law enforcement.

In one operation in the Volta Region, the officers intercepted 10 wrapped slabs of substances suspected to be cocaine, a narcotic estimated to be worth GH¢1,032,650.00. In another related operation, sacks containing substances suspected to be narcotic drugs were also seized.

Additionally, a routine patrol operation at Jacobu resulted in the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, a pump-action gun and eight live AAA rounds of ammunition, further underscoring the officers’ vigilance and commitment to public safety.

Congratulating the promoted officers, the IGP, together with members of the Police Management Board (POMAB), commended them for upholding the core values of the Ghana Police Service through discipline, courage and professionalism.

Mr Yohuno urged the officers to regard their promotion as a call to higher responsibility and encouraged all personnel of the Service to continue working diligently. He assured officers that excellence, integrity and commitment to duty remain the key criteria for recognition and promotion within the Ghana Police Service.
