Tampulmas and Mamprusis in the North Gonja district have appealed to government to include them in the proposed north east region.

The group said, they feel more at home under the overlord of the Mamprugu area which forms a large chunk of the proposed north east region.

A statement signed by Spokesperson for the group, Mohammed Ibrahim said, their cultural heritage is the same as that of Mamprugu and reiterated their desire to be carved out of the North Gonja district and joined to the north east region.

The group reminded the president that they have petitioned him in the past, while indicating that, in 2012 they petitioned government to add them to the Yagaba Kubori district without success.

The group said for a long time, the area has been neglected in the sharing of the national cake.

The statement mentioned poor road network, poor access to healthcare, water and education as some of the things they have been denied.
