The Ministry of the Interior has issued an emergency alert, cautioning residents of the Greater Accra Region to prepare for possible flooding as rainfall is expected in the early hours of Monday, July 6.

In a text message sent to the public on Sunday evening, the Ministry said moderate rainfall is forecast between 4:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m., with a 40 per cent chance of occurrence.

Residents, particularly those living in low-lying and flood-prone communities, have been advised to remain alert and take the necessary steps to safeguard lives and property.

The Ministry also warned motorists and pedestrians against attempting to drive or walk through floodwaters, stressing that rising water levels could pose significant dangers.

The advisory follows recent flooding across parts of the Greater Accra Region, where heavy rains submerged homes and roads, displaced residents and caused extensive property damage, heightening concerns over the region’s vulnerability to flooding.
