Joint Security Taskforce storms Onion Market to enforce relocation deadline

A joint Police and Military Taskforce has stormed the Agbogbloshie Market to ensure that all traders in the area adhere to the deadline of relocating to the Adjen kotoku Market.

Earlier Gunshots were fired at the Agbogbloshie Onion Market during the removal of the sellers.

The Onion sellers are resisting the decongestion exercise by the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council.

The onion traders at Agbogbloshie are being relocated to Adjen Kotoku to help reduce the congestion in the Central Business District of Accra as part of the agenda “Make Accra Work Again” initiated by the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey.

The decongestion exercise which started Thursday morning was moving smoothly until the team arrived at the Scrap Dealers section.

The dealers set used vehicle tyres ablaze in protest against their removal.
