Journalists urged to report facts ahead of December polls

Statesman, Naa Professor Edmund Delle has urged Journalists to report on news that will bind the country together in peace and harmony as Ghana heads to the polls on December 7.

Speaking at the Launch of a book titled,” Perils and Pearls, Scribbles of a stammering scribe” written by the General-Secretary of GJA, Edmund Kofi Yeboah, Naa Professor Delle said the media can make and unmake a nation therefore, any reportage should be credible in order not to bring misunderstanding in the country.

He added that professionalism should continue to be the hallmark of every Journalist to bring sanity onto the media landscape.

The book, “Perils and Pearls; Scribbles of a stammering scribe” is an autobiography that highlights the successful professional career of the General Secretary of  the GJA, Edmond Kofi Yeboah.

It shows how he defied many odds, including poverty, broken home and speech impairment and sight to excel in a 25-year career that has brought him numerous pain and enormous gain.

As an author, Mr. Yeboah draws deep from his experience and success in Journalism to encourage young journalists and students never to succumb to challenges that they may face and always aspire to achieve excellence in their career.

He expressed gratitude to those who inspired him in his professional career.

President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Roland Affail Monney, who described the book as one of the best in the industry and advocated that it should be adopted as a manual of writing in Communication institutions in the country, adding that it will stimulate more talented journalists to write.

Statesman, Naa Professor Edmund Delle, congratulated Mr. Yeboah, adding that he has achieved a noble course worth emulating.

He entreated journalists to always be circumspect, as the media is a key element in the development of every nation.

The Chancellor of Wisconsin University, Dr.Paul Fynn, who chaired the launch said the university will give 30% discount to students who want to study journalism.

Also present at the launch was Ambassador Kabral Blay-Amihere, COP Dan Akufo Danpare and a member of the National Media Commission, Bright Blewoo.
