Today marks the 41st anniversary of the June 4 revolution. Former President Rawlings, led a group of Junior officers, obviously disenchanted by the state of affairs at the time, to overthrow the SMC 2 regime. Memoirs have been documented to ensure that the legacies of those involved in the uprising live on.

Speaking to Radio Ghana, Chairman of the June 4 planning Committee, former Defence Minister Dr Benjamin Kumbour said the memoirs will be made available to the public at a later date.

He stressed the need to uphold the values of probity, transparency and accountability which are the values of the June 4 uprising.

Dr. Kumbour said activities for the celebration would start at Nungua early in this morning with a wreath-laying ceremony, followed by a virtual address by Former President Rawlings and other leaders of the NDC. Dr. Kumbour said there would be donations to the Chief Imam’s office and other institutions to support the fight against Covid-19.
