Police have confirmed that ”there was no casualty after a fuel tanker caught fire at Kaase near Asokwa in Kumasi in the Ashanti region”.

 

However, about ”40 wooden structures were burnt”.

A statement by the Police said at about 5:30 pm January 21, 2022, a fuel tanker that was discharging fuel to some tricycles at Kaase caught fire. 

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service managed to bring the fire under control, and the Police were at the scene to ensure free flow of traffic, provide security to the Officers and the motoring public.

Officials also cordoned the scene.

The statement said the truck driver and the tricycle riders escaped from the scene, and have gone into hiding. 

The statement said the Police are doing everything possible to effect their arrest.

It urged the public to ”desist from engaging in activities that have the potential to put the lives of the public at risk”.
