Kennedy Agyapong pleads not guilty to contempt, controversial video played in court

Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong has pleaded not guilty to the contempt case brought against him.

Mr. Kennedy Agyapong took the dock after more than six attempts by his lawyers for him not to appear in the dock.  After a back and forth arguments between the lawyers and the judge over the need to play the video procured from YouTube, It was eventually played. His lawyers say it is improper for the court to rely on YouTube videos.

Mr. Agyapong is charged with scandalising the court and bringing its name into disrepute.

The lawyers also alleged that the Judge hearing the case, Amos Wuntah Wuni, will be biased if he should go on to hear the case.

The team has since filed a fresh application at the High Court asking that Justice Wuni is restrained from hearing the matter. The Assin Central MP risks a possible jail term or fine should he be found guilty of contempt.
