Kotoka International Airport opens to traffic September 1

Ghana will from September 1, reopen the Kotoka International Airport to traffic.

The country’s land and sea borders however remain closed.

President Akufo-Addo had earlier paid an unannounced visit to the Airport to ascertain the readiness of the facility to resume international flights.

In a televised address to the Nation on measures taken to control the spread of COVID-19, President Akuffo-Addo, disclosed that every Passenger who arrives in the country must possess proof of a negative COVID 19 test results.

Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo has announced the postponement of the remainder of the 2019-2020 academic year for Kindergarten, Primary and JHS One pupils to January 2021.

The decision to postpone the academic year was taken after further consultations with stakeholders.

Second year Junior High and Senior High School Students would, however, return to school from October 5 to December 15.

The students will be in school for 10 weeks to complete their academic work.

Ahead of the reopening, all the schools will be fumigated and disinfected. The Junior High Schools will have a class size of 30 while that of the SHS will be 25 in each class.

Schools will be provided with infrared thermometers, reusable face mask among others. President Akufo-Addo said JHS students will be provided one hot meal a day.

All kindergarten, Nursery, Primary and JHS one students will remain at home as the GES has postponed the academic year to January 2021.
