Kwabenya residents angry over abandoned road project

Residents of Kwabenya in the Greater Accra Ga east Municipality are up in arms with authorities over the deplorable nature of roads. The Kwabenya roads serves as a bypass route through Comet, Berekuso, Kitase and other surrounding towns towards Peduase Lodge and Aburi, but such busy roads has been left in tatters.

Some angry drivers who spoke to Radio Ghana’s current affairs programme ” Ghana Today” called on the government to ask the contractor in charge of the project to get back to work.

Passengers also raised concerns about the project being abandoned for almost a year when President Akufo-Addo and the Member of Parliament, (MP),  for the constituency, Sarah Adwoa Safo cut sod for the project ro commence.

“We were expecting effective work after the sod was cut and when the project was awarded but it seems the government is taking us for granted. We are not ignorant”, says an angry driver.

The road situation in the country especially Kwabenya route is very appalling to say the least. It has been infested with potholes and can be graduated into human trap holes.

Abena Boatemaa who is a resident also poured her heart out angrily saying: “Politicians think they can play with our minds, we are not dumb and any politician who tries to take advantage of us by not delivering their promises will pay the consequence in the election season. Our eyes are widely open”.
