The Minister for Labour, Jobs and Employment, Abdul-Rashid Hassan Pelpuo, has appealed to the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana to cancel its nationwide strike.
The indefinite strike began on Monday, March 9, 2026, following a notice issued by CLOGSAG over delays in the implementation of a revised salary structure and improved conditions of service.
Speaking to Citi News on March 9, the minister urged the association to temporarily suspend the strike and focus on dialogue while the government works towards a resolution.
“The government is fully prepared to engage and resolve these matters. A strike should be a last resort when dialogue has completely failed. We are listening, we are willing to talk, and we are urging CLOGSAG to reconsider the industrial action while we continue discussions,” he said.
The Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment said the government is engaging with relevant stakeholders, including the National Labour Commission and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, to address the concerns raised and reach a resolution with the association.
