President of the Ghana Journalists Association, Roland Affail Monney, believes the launch of Autochek, an automotive technology company, is an exercise in perfect timing, in the sense that it has come to fix a critical issue in terms of deepening the culture of social distancing as the second wave of covid-19 is on the ascendancy.

Dr Affail Monney said frequent use of technology in a time like this when covid-19 is rife will prevent the spread of the disease since the technology allows clients to sit at the comfort of their homes and do business.

He said this at the launch of Ghana branch of Autochek at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra.

Formerly known as Cheki Ghana, the new brand is expected to use technology to ensure a more convenient way of buying, selling, fixing and financing vehicles.

Addressing news men and women at the launch, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Autochek Africa, Etop Ikpe said the automotive technology platform has since been developed “for all things car to be done on Autochek”.

“With the Autochek App, people can get access to vehicles to buy, put up cars for sale and also enjoy after sales service at optimum convenience and ease. It’s a tech platform that will marry all stakeholders together to have a great union,” he added.

Head of commercial operations, Solomon Adenuga said Autocheck has arrived in the country with sole aim of using technology to improve Ghana’s automotive industry as well as reducing human contacts especially in this covid-19 pandemic which has taken the world by surprise.

“Our company acquired Cheki Ghana and it has been Ghana for a long time so we will merge technology and data to create a single marketplace for car loans, repairs, and sales in the country,” he said.

Head of Human Resource and Business Compliance at Autochek, Yvonne Ahile urged the public to get unto the platform to receive the best deals for all kinds of vehicles and also do business at the comfort of their homes as it is safe to do so especially in this covid-19 pandemic.

One of the company’s aims is to partner with more than 500 dealers and workshops on its platform across various cities in Ghana by the end of 2022.

It was noted with concerns the challenges affecting the sector including standardization of prices, mysterious car grade and condition, lack of standardized aftersales support, lack of credit options, absence of one-stop for cars, insurance and registration would be addressed by the Autochek system.
