Leader of syndicate involved in Police Service recruitment scam busted

The Volta Regional Police Command has arrested the prime suspect of a syndicate involved in a Police service recruitment  fraud in the Volta Region.

A statement signed by the Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Command, Inspector Prince Dogbatse said the suspect, Frank Fenuku, a 21-year-old footballer was arrested at Adentan Zongo Junction in Accra.

The Police arrested 3 persons on September 14, 2021 for a fraudulent Facebook publication purported to have been created by the Volta Regional Police Commander, DCOP Edward Oduro Kwateng, advertising to assist potential applicants to be enlisted into the Ghana Police Service.

Investigation by the Police revealed that the SIM card with the number 0557918534 contained in the Facebook advert which aided the fraudulent operations of the prime suspect and his accomplices was found in possession of Frank Fenuku.

The statement indicates that Fenuku admitted being the mastermind behind the false Facebook publication created in the name of the Volta Regional Police Commander, DCOP Edward Oduro Kwateng during interrogation.

It states that the suspect gave further details on how he conspired with others to swindle unsuspecting victims of their money under the pretext of allocating protocol slots for them in the ongoing Police Service recruitment.

Fenuku is expected to be arraigned before the Ho Circuit Court on Thursday, September 30, 2021.

Meanwhile the three (3) suspects who were arrested on September 14, 2021 have since been arraigned before the Ho Circuit Court where one of them was remanded into police custody and is expected to reappear today.

The two (2) other suspects have been granted bail and are assisting the Police in further investigations.
