President Akufo-Addo says his doors are always open for all, especially the church, on national issues that will propel growth in the economy. He said the church has a critical role to play in national development, and the government is willing to give a listening ear as it has the interest of the people at heart.

President Akufo-Addo made these remarks when the Leadership of the Assemblies of God, Ghana paid him a courtesy call at the Jubilee House in Accra. He commended the church for its impact and support to the country over the years.

Assemblies of God is one of the largest Pentecostal Churches with about 70 million members across the globe. Over the years, the church has nurtured members who have, and are playing key roles in the country. It is the first Pentecostal church to establish a Bible Training School in the country.

President Akufo Addo expressed gratitude to the church for their words of encouragement and the acknowledgement of the government’s flagship programs. He said the government is determined to complete its projects, especially the construction of the National Cathedral.

General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Stephen Yenusom Wengam, said the visit is to express gratitude to the government for the support to the church over the years. He commended President Akufo-Addo for holding the fort in these difficult moments where Ghana and the world at large are faced with a myriad of challenges. He said President Akufo-Addo will be remembered for innovative programmes such as the Free SHS, Planting for Food and Jobs and the quest to build a National Cathedral.

One of the six thematic visions of the Church, is to establish a centenary village to mark its 100 years in 2031.
