LIEBHERR-GHANA plants 1,500 trees at Shai Hills resource reserve

As part of events marking the German Days 2022 celebration, LIEBHERR-GHANA, a German mining company in Ghana planted trees at the Shai Hills resource reserve on the 8th of October 2022.

Tree planting is an initiative sponsored by the mining company. This was an effort by Liebherr as part of their mandate to reclaim land and support governments’ efforts to stop the destruction of the natural environment.

In total 1,500 trees were planted at the Shai Hills resource reserve by about 100 volunteers from different walks of life.

The country director of Liebherr-Ghana, Etienne Dupuy mentioned that as a mining company they will continue to plant trees in order to replace the ones that were cut down as result of mining and other human activities. He also mentioned the tree-planting event will continue to be an annual exercise to protect the environment.

Ms. Flurina Graf Ackah, Head of Competence center Energy and Mining at the Delegation of German Industry and commerce mentioned that they are happy to partner with Liebherr-Ghana on this tree planting exercise as part of the German Days 2022 celebrations. She said it is only important that trees are planted to ensure we have a sustainable and ecologically friendly environment and they are more than proud to help promote this agenda.

Mr. Ozor, head of planting at Shai Hills Resource reserve also mentioned that the Shai Hills resource reserve embarks on yearly tree-planting activities. He expressed joy, stating that the tree-planting exercise was the right partnership for the resource reserve.

Mr. Solomon Lodo, project manager at the delegation of German industry and commerce also indicated that the tree planting is one of the events of the German Days 2022 celebration, organized by the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Ghana (AHK Ghana) and the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ghana to promote the beautiful German Ghanaian culture through diverse fun activities.
