Man arrested for seizing voters’ ID Cards at Nungua

A young man only identified as Freeman is in the grips of the Kpeshie Divisional Police Headquarters at Nungua for arbitrarily collecting registered voters ID cards from registrants.

The suspect, believed to be a sympathizer of the NPP, in the Krowor Constituency, is alleged to have been collecting the cards of perceived floating voters.

This however created some tension at the Nungua Police Station as victims trooped to the Police to retrieve their cards.

When contacted, the Crime Officer of the Station refused to comment. Meanwhile, some of the ID cards have been retrieved from the suspect while the owners showed up at the police station to lodge their complaints.

Although it is not immediately clear the rationale behind the collection of the ID cards, one of the victims, SaloDzigbodi, told GBC News, her ID card was taken by a woman on the pretext of giving her some cash from the office of the Member of Parliament to start a business.

She said she pushed so many times but they didn’t give the cards to her adding that she reported the incident to her landlord and later informed the Police.
