One person has died and 37 others have been injured in a road accident at Mankrong on the Accra–Kumasi Highway.

The crash happened on Sunday, 11 January 2026, and involved a 40-seater bus and a Man Diesel truck. Both vehicles were moving at the time of the collision, according to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).

Fire officers from the Suhum Municipal Fire Station were dispatched to the scene shortly after the accident was reported. They arrived within minutes and helped rescue victims trapped in the wreckage.

The deceased was removed from the bus, while the injured — 21 men and 16 women — were assisted and taken to the Suhum Government Hospital for treatment. The occupants of the truck were not hurt.

The fire service also cleared the road to restore traffic flow and secure the area.

The front of the bus was badly damaged, while the truck suffered only minor damage. Witnesses said the bus was travelling at high speed before the crash, though the exact cause is still being investigated.

The Ghana National Fire Service said the response shows its commitment to quick and professional emergency support.
