The Chief Executive Officer of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Abigail Elorm Mensah, has confirmed that three government vehicles were retrieved from the residence of the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.

‎Ms. Mensah speaking in an interview on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, she explained that the retrieval, carried out with the support of National Security operatives, forms part of a wider initiative to recover government vehicles and loans from defaulters.

‎“I have gone with National Security operatives to the house of the Chairman of the NPP in Ashanti Region, Chairman Wontumi. Three cars. In fact, the cars were five. We’ve retrieved three. I have collected all from his house. We are still chasing him for the two. He has to pay for them,” she revealed.

‎The MASLOC CEO stressed that the Centre requires individuals who fail to repay loans or misuse state assets to either return them or settle their outstanding debts.

‎She further disclosed that several cases of misappropriation of government property have been reported to the police.

‎Ms. Mensah also cited another case involving a brother of former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who allegedly refused to return a Nissan Urvan after acquiring a new vehicle. The vehicle has since been seized.

‎She assured that MASLOC will intensify efforts to safeguard government property across the country.
