Dicko Ibrahim, a 32-year-old mason who sexually abused a nine year old minor at James Town has been sentenced to ten years imprisonment in hard labour by an Accra Circuit Court.
Ibrahim was found guilty by the court presided over by Justice Mrs Rita Abrokwah-Doko at the end of the trial.
Detective Sergeant Opoku Aniagye, the prosecutor narrating the incident said that the complainant is a 35-year-old food vender who resides at Korle Gonno, Accra, and the victim is her niece.
Prosecution said the convict was living at James Town, Accra, and on April 28, this year at about 11:00 hours the victim went to assist the complainant to sell her food at the work place of the convict.
At about 18:00 hours, the complainant asked the victim to go around the place and collect bowls from her customers who had finished eating and wash them.
Prosecution said in the process of collecting the bowls; Ibrahim asked the victim to enter his wooden structure and get some sachet water for him.
Soon after the victim had entered the convict’s wooden structure, he followed up, undressed himself and the victim and had sex with the victim.
Prosecution said after the act Ibrahim warned the victim not to tell anyone else he would beat her.
On May 13, this year, at about 16:00 hours, the complainant detected that the victim could not walk well and when she was quizzed; she revealed what Ibrahim did to her.
The victim also led the complainant to Ibrahim’s wooden structure where the accused lived, but she could not locate the whereabouts of Ibrahim.
Prosecution said on May 15, this year, at about 15:30 hour, the complainant spotted Ibrahim at James Town and she alerted the Police and he was arrested.
Ibrahim was escorted to the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU), where a medical form was issued to the complainant to send the victim to the hospital.
