By Bubu Klinogo

The Ghana Airport Company says McDan Aviation may soon be given the greenlight to commence its private jet and private terminal services at terminal one of the Kotoka International Airport. The Airport Company has ordered MacDan to shut down its operations at the Airport for procedural breaches.

The Transport and Roads Committee of Parliament has visited the terminal to learn at first hand the issues in question.

Bubu Klinogo was on the tour and has filed this report.

The tour was to enable the Parliamentary Committee on Roads and Transport to learn at first hand the issues of disagreement between McDan Aviation and the Ghana Airport Company Limited. The team visited the private jet terminal where they were briefed by the Managing Director of the Ghana Airport Company, Yaw Kwakwa and officials from the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority and MacDan Aviation. Mr. Kwakwa explained that most of the issues with MacDan have been resolved.

Chairman of the Roads and Transport Committee, Kennedy Osei Nyarko has been giving his impressions.
The Ranking Member on the Committee, Governs Kwame Agbodza demanded some clear timelines as to when MacDan will be cleared to start operation.

The Deputy Minister of Transport, Alhassan Tampouli who was part of the tour said all the due processes will be followed.

Interestingly, while the briefing was ongoing, news broke that the Managing Director of the Ghana Airport Company, Yaw Kwakwa has been sacked. A letter signed by the Minister of Transport, Kwaku Ofori Asiamah addressed to the Board Chairman of the Company, Paul Adom Otchere said the President has directed the Board to sack the MD.
