As part of his tour of the Northern Region, Information Minister, Mr. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah interacted with members of the media at Wa in the Upper West region.

He asked them to sell the investment potential of the region to the outside world. He said the region is endowed with opportunities which could be tapped into.

The visit was to among other things enable the minister to acquaint himself with the challenges confronting the state-owned media, GBC.

The Minister also explained government’s plans to upgrade the media and make the economy better.

Operationalisation of the Information Act, COVID-19 and the interventions by government to minimise its effects, increase in taxes and the fight against galamsey were issues that came up at the meeting.

Mr. Oppong Nkrumah challenged the media in the Upper West region to advertise investment opportunities that abound in the region to potential investors.

The Information Minister was quizzed on issues including the irregular power outages, #FixTheCountry, safety and capacity building for journalists among others.

The Minister later visited GBC Radio Upper West where the Acting Regional Mr. Christopher Aseidu conducted him round the station.

Mr. Christopher Aseidu appealed to the Information Minister to facilitate the establishment of a regional television station in the region.

This he says will help promote investment and the culture and traditions of the people.
