Melcom Limited says no one was injured after a fire broke out at one of its warehouse facilities in the Tema Free Zones enclave on Saturday.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the retail company said the cause of the fire is being investigated in collaboration with the relevant authorities.
“The safety and well-being of our employees, partners and surrounding communities remain our highest priority,” the company said.
Melcom thanked the Ghana National Fire Service, the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), the Ghana Police Service and other emergency responders for bringing the blaze under control.
The company said it is also conducting an internal assessment to determine the extent of the damage and has begun securing the affected facility.
Although the fire has disrupted operations at the warehouse, Melcom said it is working to restore normal operations as quickly as possible while minimising any impact on customers.
The company added that it would take the necessary steps to maintain the availability of stock as recovery efforts continue.
Melcom also expressed appreciation to its employees, customers, business partners and members of the public for their support following the incident.
