Melcom launches CSR projects to support deprived communities

Melcom Group has launched a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Projects to support ten schools in three regions: Eastern Volta and Greater Accra Region in the area of water and sanitation facilities to mark its 30th Anniversary.

At the short ceremony to launch the project, Melcom promised to be supporting ten schools in three regions with improved water and sanitation facilities…“it’s a sad situation to observe that some of these schools don’t even have toilet facilities while others have those that are non-functional; and they range from Primary through Secondary to Tertiary Institutions”.

Director of Communications, Melcom Group of Companies, Godwin Avenorgbo, in his address, said some deprived communities will also be assisted with bore holes for the supply of high quality water for healthy living.

Melcom 30th Anniversary will also benefit our teeming youth through the creation of a new scholarship scheme for Entrepreneurial training at one of Ghana’s renowned Universities as our additional contribution to the development of relevant skills set for better employment opportunities, he added.

According to Mr. Avenorgbo, The Group has an eye on a hospital ward for an upgrade and before the end of the year, “Melcom will provide full sponsorship for a Nationwide Blood Donation Campaign to increase the stock of Blood at our hospitals in time for the busy Christmas and End of Year Season. These and many more we have planned to do by way of saying to the good people of Ghana”

As usual of him, the distinguished Broadcaster set the room ablaze when he said “it has been a long held view that the sweetness of the pudding is in the eating so in compliance with that belief Melcom has good news for all shoppers.

“We are entering into a very special year in the life of Ghana’s Retail Industry.  A year in which we can count our blessings and name them one by one and be thankful to God, our beloved Country Ghana and its beautiful people named in the success story of Retail in Ghana”.

With effect from Monday, July 1, 2019 which marks Ghana’s 59th Republic Anniversary for a period of nine weeks till Saturday, August 31, 2019 for every purchase at a Melcom shop branch throughout Ghana worth the value of One hundred Ghana Cedis; the customer will be given a scratch card which reveals a secret code.  The customer will send that secret code to the short code 1788 indicated on the scratch card on all networks to enter a draw.  The more you buy the more scratch cards you get: Ghs 230 Two scratch cards, GHs 350-three scratch cards etc.

The National Lottery Authority will conduct weekly draws to pick winners of the various prizes, including 3o cars, 3o laptops, 30 motor cycles, 30 mobile phones, 30 microwave, 30 LED 32-inch TV and a whole lot of gifts in form of vouchers.
