Military personnel and families to undergo testing for coronavirus in Volta, Oti Regions

More than four hundred Military personnel in the Oti and Volta Regions and their families are expected to undergo a mass voluntary testing for the Covid 19 pandemic. Additionally, fifty- five Military Facilities within the two regions are also expected to be disinfected.

These forms part of an initiative by the Military High Command to educate and reduce or totally eliminate any infection within the Command.

This was made known by the Commander of the 66 Artillery Regiment, Colonel Bernard Baba Pantoah, at the commencement of the Exercise in Ho.

The voluntary mass testing of all Military personnel and their families and the disinfection of all military facilities in the Volta and Oti Regions forms part of a broader national initiative by the Military High Command.

This, according to the command, is to educate and also help reduce if not to totally eliminate, the risk of infection within the forces. Over four hundred military personnel in the Oti and Volta regions with their families are expected to undergo the mass voluntary testing for  the Covid-19 pandemic.

Additionally, fifty five military facilities within the two regions are also expected to be disinfected. This include but not limited to the Volta  Barracks at Ho, Naval Training Command at Sogokope, Akoefe training camp and Operation Ahodwo camps at Nkonyaand Alavanyo.

Others are operation Gongong at Kete-krachi, operation safe camp at Hohoe, Operation Sitdownat Aflao, MOC, at Dambai, and Kpando Torkor. The voluntary mass testing started Wednesday and will run till Thursday, June 11, while the disinfection started Wednesday.

The Commander of the 66 Artillery Regiment, Colonel Bernard Baba Pantoah, said even though the Command has not recorded any case of the pandemic yet, it was very necessary that steps are taken to prevent rather than to try to contain and manage infection cases, hence the need for the two exercises.
