Mini-market fire on campus, have no affect on reopening of school – KNUST

Management of KNUST, the fire outbreak at a mini-market close to the Republic Hall will have no effect on its reopening.

The timely intervention of firefighters ensured that the fire did not spread to the Hall. According to the University Management, students who reside in the Hall have been evacuated until further notice.

Speaking to the media after the Management’s visit to assess the extent of damage, the University’sRelations Officer, Dr. Daniel Bekoesaid no student or their property are affected and a committee is being set up to look into the matter.

One of the affected Shop owner, John Amoah said almost all the eleven stalls have been burnt down.

He was however happy that the University is not ejecting them and appealed for immediate assistance for rehabilitation to enable them to bounce back to continue their business.
