Minister-nominee for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Sarah Adjoa Safo, says she will engage traditional and opinion leaders on the way forward for places tagged as witch camps in the country.

According to her, that will afford her the opportunity to decide what to do with such camps.

Madam Adjoa Safo gave the assurance when she appeared before the Appointments Committee of Parliament.

The nominee also highlighted the importance of recreational centers to the development and growth of children.

She said if confirmed, she will work to ensure that all 16 regions have recreational centers. Also top on the list of the agenda she will pursue is the passage of the Aged Bill.

She made these comments when she appeared before the Appointments Committee of Parliament yesterday (February 17, 2021).

Madam Adwoa Safo who was the immediate past Minister of State in charge of Procurement, called for the separation of procurement departments from the finance departments of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

She said the situation where procurement departments are placed under the finance department is problematic and should be abolished because it hinders accountability.
