The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources in partnership with relevant stakeholders are working tirelessly to project a positive image of the Ghanaian mining sector by focusing on the eradication of galamsey.

This has prompted the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources and the Minerals Commission to organize a special training workshop in Kumasi on the offences and penalties regime under the Minerals and Mining Act for Judges and Magistrates from mining areas.

The Sector Minister, Samuel Abu Jinapor reiterated Government’s resolve to sanitizethe mining industry.

Since the Judiciary has a crucial role to play towards this agenda, the Chief Justice, Justice Anin Yeboah said the training for members of the Bench is timely, as the Judiciary shares the national concerns regarding the illegal mining menace.

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah pledged the support of the Regional Coordinating Council in the fight against galamsey particularly in the region.
