Mixed reactions to lifting of lockdown areas

President Akufo-Addo in his seventh broadcast to update Ghanaians on COVID-19, lifted restriction on the lockdown, but the move does not seem to have gone down well with some citizens while others are jubilating because they see it as a sigh of relief.

Edna Agbolosu shares her concerns with GBC’s Radio Ghana’s George Ankrah. She says the lifting of the restriction would rather cause the spread of the virus.

A Labour and Crisis Management Expert, Austin Gamey, also shared his opinion on the lifting of the lockdown.

He said it is not a one-sided issue and not a matter for jubilation. He, however, made a case for the daily wage earner and asked Ghanaians to remain disciplined.

A Governance Expert, Fred Agyarko Oduro, has also expressed disappointment about the lifting of the partial lockdown although he admits that Government might have its own findings for doing so.

Mr. Agyarko Oduro said Ghanaians need to learn from the good legacies the coronavirus has handed down and maintain that spirit of good hygiene, social distancing and discipline.

Mr. Agyarko Oduro cautioned spiritual leaders against misleading the public by explaining why the world is suffering from coronavirus.
