The engagement, organised in collaboration with the Office of the Head of the Local Government Service, provided residents with information on Government’s social protection programmes and support available to vulnerable individuals and households.
Speaking at the Community Dialogue, the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, said social protection must not be seen solely as the responsibility of central government, but as an important part of local development and community building.

She said the collaboration with the National Health Insurance Authority had also facilitated the registration and renewal of eligible vulnerable and disabled persons under the National Health Insurance Scheme.
Dr. Lartey encouraged eligible residents to take advantage of the free registration and renewal services to ensure access to healthcare.
The Member of Parliament for Ablekuma South, Okoe Vanderpuije, commended the Ministry for taking the dialogue to the communities, saying direct engagement would help Government better understand the challenges facing residents.

Officials from the Ministry and other stakeholders also sensitised residents on domestic violence, child marriage, teenage pregnancy, human trafficking, child protection, NHIS and the LEAP reassessment exercise.
Residents of Chorkor and Mamprobi used the platform to ask questions and share concerns on social protection programmes and other issues affecting their communities.
