Human Rights Lawyer and Historian, Yaw Anokye Frimpong has stated that the government should adhere to making one ID card for all national documentation a necessity. He said this during an interview on the GTV Breakfast Show on October 20, 2021.

According to Mr. Frimpong, he does not see the need to have 4 different National Identity Cards with each having a specific duty or role to play.

He suggested a more robust, but less stressful mechanism that would provide an avenue for individuals to just pick up their identification card, when such necessary documentation is required.

Furthermore, he cited examples of some French countries, where only an ID Card is used for documentation purposes, such as travelling and company registration.

“I wish to see that the ID card has become simplified,” Mr. Anokye-Frimpong stated.
