More than 300 people displaced, 722 Farm Lands destroyed in Upper West Floods- NADMO

The National Disaster Management Organization, (NADMO) in the Upper West Region, says 336 people have so far been displaced by the floods that occurred in the region some days ago.

1,605 farmers have their farmlands destroyed. This constitutes 722 farmlands.

The Upper West Regional Director of NADMO, Mustapha Ahmed, disclosed this to GBC NEWS at Wa. He said though NADMO is having difficulty in reaching some of the affected areas, information gathered from Assembly Members in Three Districts, indicates, “that 8 houses have also collapsed making life difficult for the people’’.

The Districts that have been assessed so far are the Nadowli-Kaleo, Daffiama-Bussie-Issa and Jirapa.

Mr. Ahmed disclosed that NADMO is preparing to reach out to the affected persons to alleviate their suffering.

He said the assistance will however, not be enough and appealed to individuals and organizations to support in this time of emergency.
