The Western Regional Imam, Sheik Ali Hassan Ali, has called on Muslims in the Region to continue to pray at home until further notice.

He said although the President, Nana Akufo-Addo Addo in his latest address to the state on the Covid-19 situation in the country announced that mosques and churches can congregate but with a number of restrictions all geared towards preventing the further of the virus.

Speaking at an emergency meeting with Zongo Chiefs, sub imams and officials of the Metro-Health Directorate, Sheik Hassan Ali concluded that following the directives which included number of worshippers, the existence of at least ten washrooms and thermometers among others, it is best to worship at home.

He emphasised that the National Chief Imam has already asked that mosques should remain closed.

Addressing the gathering, the Sekondi-Takoradi Metro Health Director, Dr. Edward Kofi Sutherland outlined the need to comply with the directives.

According to him, the lack of proper ventilation, adequate and clean washrooms, a gathering of more than a 100 people, no social distancing among others will only increase the rate of spread.
