The Volta Caucus in Parliament has condemned the publication of books that contain stereotypical comments about Ewes.

A statement made on behalf of the caucus by MP for Akatsi North, Peter Nortsu-Kotoe said the books must be withdrawn from schools and bookshops immediately with the publishers sanctioned.

The statement recounts previous unkind comments made against Ewes by high-profile politicians in the past which found their way into textbooks.

Other MPs who contributed to the statement demanded that the publishers and agencies under the Ministry of Education responsible for approving educational materials are summoned by Parliament for further explanation.

MPs who contributed to the statement include those from Hohoe, John Peter Amewu; Ablekuma West, Ursula Owusu- Ekuful; North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa; and Dr. Clement Apaak.

Meanwhile, Parliament is continuing the debate on the 2021 budget with focus on roads, communication, energy and sanitation. Among the contributors were MPs for Adaklu, Kwame Governs Agbodza; Akyem Swedru, Kennedy Nyarko Osei; Ningo Prampram, Samuel George; and Hohoe, John Peter Amewu.
