The Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) says it has identified a new substance abuse aside from the traditional ones such as marijuana.
This includes the usage of sanitary pads, carpenters glue, petrol, dried faeces, correction fluid and many more by the youth.
The Upper West Regional Commander of NACOB, Ishak Bakuri, revealed this when he received the Minister of the Interior, Ambrose Dery, to his office as part of a working visit to the region.
Mr Bakuri, said there are no legal regimes covering the use of these substances thereby making it difficult to fight the new development.
He said plans are advanced to look into the chemical components of the abused substances especially the sanitary pads and the way forward.
