Director of Research and Planning at the National Road Safety Authority, David Osafo Adonteng says the Authority is engaging the Ministry of Transport and Parliament for a roll-out of a policy that will ensure effective towing services targeting disabled vehicles on the road.

Mr. Adonteng who was unhappy about a similar project which was shot down following public outcry said there will be broad public engagement to ensure its success.

He said government has not been able to pursue an efficient vehicle towing service because it is capital intensive and requires private sector involvement.

Mr. Adonteng was speaking on Behind the News in reaction to an accident that occurred around the Tesano Police station in Accra, yesterday which claimed two lives and injured many others.

The accident is said to have been caused by a faulty trailer that had been left in the middle of the road.
