The Executive Secretary of Communication for the Catholic Bishop Conference, Rev. Fr. Dieu Donne Kofi Davor has said the leadership of the church has met with National Security to plan out security measures to prevent attacks on churches in the country.

Speaking on news and current affairs programme ‘Behind The News’, Rev, Fr. Donne said they are ruling out education programmes and also tighten borders to avoid any security threats.

He said next week, the National Security will give guidelines to all churches to follow.

His assurance comes in the back of a warning by the Africa Center for Security and Intelligence Studies that churches in Ghana are potential targets of a terrorist group, Salafi Jihadist based in Burkina Faso.

Meanwhile, spokesperson of the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Aremeyaw Shaibu said given the recent attack on mosque in New Zealand, Ghana should anticipate that mosques can be targets of the Jihadists as well.

He said the surest way to guarantee the safety of Muslims is to go beyond just religious tolerance to a stronger bond or relationship with the Christian communities.
