The Catholic Diocese of Navrongo – Bolgatanga has launched its Education Policy – 2021 in Bolgatanga as part of efforts to ensure holistic quality education delivery in the North East and Upper East Regions by providing the spiritual and moral components in Education.

The Policy which seeks to harmonize the country’s education policy and the Catholic Bishop Conference policy document seeks to create opportunities for young persons to achieve their potential through comprehensive religious, culturally- oriented and learner centred education.

The policy amongst others will see the establishment of parent’s Associations in each Catholic school with 50% of its Executives being Catholics while all Heads of Public Catholic schools recommended being practicing and committed Catholics.

Speaking with GBC’s URA Radio, on the side-lines of the launch of the policy, the Catholic Bishop of the Diocese, Most Rev Alfred Agyenta explained that, the policy was a Diocesan Catholic Education Policy of Navrongo-Bolgatanga aimed at bringing to the fore the Church’s vision of education for the promotion of human development.

‘’The policy seeks to support the government’s National Education Policy and place emphasis on the Church to ensure that there is holistic education for our children. We are looking at how minds, hearts and the hands of people can be formed so that they will be able to find meaning in their own lives and also in their profession’’, he noted.

Most Rev. Agyenta indicated that it is very clear from the beginning that the church had always called on the government to let the Church make a meaningful contribution to the education of its youth.

The Regional Manager in charge of Catholic Education of the Navrongo-Bolgatanga Diocese Rev. Sister Bernardine Pemii of the Daughters of Charity (DC) indicated that the launch is about reminding themselves what they had been doing and also putting it into context with good moral ideals.

‘’The Catholic Education Unit of Navrongo-Bolgatanga Diocese have been partnering with the government and the Ghana Education Service over the years and had been in a good working relationship with them’’, she posited.
