Some aggrieved residents of New Prampram, a community along the Afienya Highway in the Ningo Prampram District of the Greater Accra Region organised a protest Friday morning calling on the Ministry of Railways Development to help provide access route into the Community.

The protest is against the refusal of the sector Ministry to compel the contractor working on the Tema-Mpakadan Railway Project, AFCONS, to provide an access route for them.

Amidst chanting of war songs with red arm bands, the aggrieved residents carried placards with inscriptions, “We Want Access Road” and “No Road No Vote” among others.

They marched along the railway line from New Prampram to the Emefs Estates to register their displeasure over the issue.

This is the second time the residents have staged a demonstration in less than two months to drive home their demand.

The Assemblyman for the Mataheko Electoral Area, Peter Akplie Agyeman, emphasised the need for an under-path. He explained that several assurances made to them by the Railways Development Authority and the Kpone Katamanso Municipal Assembly have not materialised.

He added that the situation has compelled them to create their own access road.
