NIA begins mass Ghana card registration in Eastern Region

The Eastern Region has taken its turn as the National Identification Authority (NIA) yesterday (March 5), began the mass registration in the Region.
The 21-day exercise which will end on the 27th of this month, is taking place at 833 designated registration centres.
On day one of the exercise, some applicants were happy with the process and urged other citizens to take advantage of the exercise to get registered.
Some of the centres visited in the New Juaben North Municipality include the Effiduase Methodist Church, Ghana Senior High School, the MTTD, and the Regional Coordinating Council Centre in the New Juaben South district.
At all the centres visited, people were seen in queues waiting for their turn to be registered.
So far, 9,813 242 eligible Ghanaians have been registered by the NIA in 15 regions.
Out of the number, eight million four hundred and eight thousand, seven hundred and forty-one cards have been printed out while six million, one hundred and 86 thousand, 679 cards have been issued.
