The National Identification Authority (NIA), says it is in the process of harmonising its systems with the EC to enable Ghanaians to use the new voters’ ID cards to transact business.

This follows agitations from the public as the new voters’ ID card is not accepted by Banks and other institutions, six months after the 2020 General Election.

Acting Head of Public Affairs of the NIA, Abudu Abdul-Ganiyu told GBC’s Nathaniel Nartey that the harmonisation process will be completed by the end of the year.

He explained that the EC has some difficulties that the NIA struggled with hence the delay in the process.

Meanwhile, the NIA will from June 7 commence the issuance of more than 200,000 Ghana cards to persons who registered but are yet to receive them.

Abudu Abdul-Ganiyu said people who have misplaced or damaged their Ghana cards can request for a new one at any of its newly established district offices at a fee of ¢30.00.
