NIB supports GJA Awards

National Investment Bank, (NIB) has presented a cheque for hundred thousand Ghana Cedis to support the 23rd Ghana Journalists Association’s Awards.

The Cheque was presented by the General Manager in charge of Operations and Technology at NIB, Evans Amartey, at a brief ceremony at the Ghana International Press Centre, (GIPC) in Accra.

Presenting the cheque, Mr. Amartey said NIB believes journalism is a key cornerstone for the nation’s development and it is essential to support the media to deliver on their mandate.

He noted that democracy of Ghana has been enriched because of the work done by journalists.

Mr. Amartey said the NIB believes through support journalists will be encouraged to depeen their skill sets and to aspire to higher standards of journalism.

He said the bank considers the donation as a corporate duty to support the awards to promote quality journalism that can facilitate national development.

The President of Ghana Journalists Association, (GJA), Affail Monney thanked NIB for the support saying even though some banks have not responded positively towards the Association’s appeals this year due to the unfortunate banking sector crisis, NIB has shown commitment to the course and mandate of journalists in this country, hence the donation.

He said the donation attest to the value and respect NIB places on journalists in Ghana.

The Award ceremony which will celebrate journalists and media Houses for their work in 2017 is slated for Saturday, October 27, 2018 at the exquisite Kempinski, Gold Coast Hotel in Accra.
