The Ghana Branch of the King Mohammed VI Foundation of African ‘Oulema’ has donated sanitary and healthcare items as well as some provisions to the Nima Polyclinic to complement government’s efforts at providing less endowed health centers with the needed supplies to step up its health delivery system.
Ambassador of Morocco to Ghana, Imane Ouaadil, donating the items said she hopes it will be the first among many donations.
“I hope that it will be the first of many actions not only dedicated to the month of Ramadan but also during the whole year. The embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco is willing to assist and help the Nima Clinic especially and the Muslim community in Ghana as a whole.”
She charged the hospital to put the items to effective use for the benefit of the patients. Items donated included hand sanitizers, liquid detergents, Dettol disinfectants and some provisions as part of the foundation’s public health programmes.
The Moroccan Ambassador said the Foundation saw the need to donate to the hospital to help the facility in these abnormal times, adding that, the gifted items will ensure the smooth running of the hospital.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Clinic, Senior Medical Officer in Charge of the Clinic, Alexander Balina- Adda, thanked the foundation for the offer and like Oliver Twist, asked for more.
“We are really happy and we appreciate this kind gesture and we assure you that all these items will be put into good use to the benefit of our clients. As the proverbial Oliver twist, we have a lot of needs and we also want to appeal that the King should come to our aid some more.”
He said the hospital is facing lots of challenges and appealed for an ultra-modern theatre.
General Secretary of the foundation, Osman Bari, said the gesture will help strengthen the ties between Ghana and Morocco.
“The branch was opened here in Ghana some three years ago and we’ve carried out activity socially, educationally and economically. We are here as a token to give you this presentation so that we can cement our relationship between Ghana and Morocco.”
The Nima Government Clinic has grown in popularity and gained acceptance among members of the community and beyond. Attendance at the facility has increased due to the popularity of the Health Insurance Scheme and provision of quality health care at the Centre.
