The Chairman of the National Media Commission, Yaw Boadu Ayeboafo has called on government and other stakeholders to make it a priority to pass the Broadcasting Law.

He said passing the law is the surest way for regulatory bodies like the NMC to grow the strongest teeth to bite in terms of sanitizing content carried on broadcasting media platforms.

Speaking at a stakeholder’s forum on Broadcasting in Ghana, Mr. Ayeboafo said passage of the law is long overdue and all stakeholders must accept responsibility for its delay and subsequent rot on media platforms.

Mr. Ayeboafo said without a law to regulate the media space, TV and Radio stations have no resolution to follow since many of them are just out there to make a profit irrespective of the moral and ethical guidelines or values they should follow.

He said some of the stations have for their sole survival obscene and disturbing content and this calls for a concerted effort at working on a suitable way to deal with the sensitive issue of sanitizing the media space.
