Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah says there was no security intelligence failure in Friday’s planned attack by the Western Togoland Secessionist Group.

The Minister during a media briefing said the security agencies had prior intelligence on the group’s planned attack on the Akosombo Dam, the Adomi Bridge, and other sensitive installations and averted it.

On Friday, the Western Togoland Secessionists Group led an attack in some parts of the Volta Region where they blocked roads leading into the Region.

They mounted roadblocks on the Juapong–Accra and Sogakope–Accra main roads.

The barricades were later cleared as the security agencies took control of the highway and strategic installations.

The Homeland Study Group wants a part of the Volta Region to be an autonomous country known as Western Togoland.

Mr Oppong Nkrumah at the briefing commended the State’s security apparatus for swiftly averting what he said would have been a dire attack.
