A Senior Research Fellow at the Immunology Department of the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research, Dr. Kwadwo Asamoah, has called for assistance from waste management and disinfection experts, Zoomlion Ghana Limited in the form of disinfecting the institute on a monthly basis.
Such a move, he explained, would help safeguard the facility and its environment for use by staff members and the public against the coronavirus disease.
Dr. Asamoah made the appeal when Zoomlion disinfected the Noguchi Research facility which had been in the forefront of COVID-19 testing since the country recorded its first cases in March last year.
The exercise formed part of Zoomlion’s Free Community Disinfection campaign.
It saw the team from Zoomlion disinfect the offices and laboratory, as well as the immediate precincts of the facility, using the atomizers and hand-held disinfection machines.
Dr. Asamoah said the job undertaken by the Noguchi Research Institute where samples were received constantly puts it at risk, hence, the call for the regular disinfection while the fight against the pandemic is still on.
