Northern Regional Police open investigation into suspected killing Chensegu Chief

The Northern Regional Police Command has begun investigations into the shooting and killing of the Chief of Chensegu last Friday night, during a fire festival at Kumbungu.
 
Preliminary investigations indicate that at about 11.30pm last Friday night during the fire festivities, the suspect, Zaachi, aged about 50 and the Youth Chief of Kumbungu pulled out an AK 47 assault rifle and gave warning shot twice into the air, as part of the cerebration.
 
While bringing down the rifle, it went off and as a result discharged a bullet which hit the neck of the deceased, Haruna.
 
The deceased was immediately rushed to the Tamale Teaching Hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival.
 
The suspect, Zaachi is on the run and the Police is making efforts to get him arrested to assist in investigations.
