NPRA tells workers in active service to take issues of Pensions Seriously

The National Pensions Regulatory Authority, NPRA has bemoaned the low interest of Ghanaians in pension issues which is a big hurdle for the authority.

A Senior Manager in charge of Standards and Compliance at the NPRA, Hayford Amankwah who raised the concern, said the culture where people are taken care of by their relatives after retirement from work is changing and urged every worker to take the issue of pensions seriously.

He was speaking at a workshop organized by the Public Services Workers Union (PSWU) in Koforidua for its members.

Mr Amankwah asked persons who have issues with their pensions to report to the authority for appropriate redress.

Chairman of the Koforidua Branch of PSWU of the TUC, Stephen Appiah, urged members to constantly check their details with the tier two and three fund managers as well as SSNIT to ensure that their contributions are paid so as not to be at a disadvantage when they go on retirement.
