Eleven people have been confirmed dead after a tipper truck collided with a Sprinter bus at Ofankor Barrier on the Accra–Kumasi Highway on Thursday morning.
Several other passengers sustained serious injuries and were taken to various hospitals for treatment.
The crash left the Sprinter bus badly damaged, with some passengers trapped in the wreckage.
Emergency responders, including personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), were deployed to the scene to rescue the trapped victims and assist those injured.
According to ADO1 Alex King Nartey of the GNFS, rescue teams worked to free victims from the mangled vehicle before transporting those who required urgent medical attention to health facilities.
A female passenger whose legs were reportedly severed in the collision was among those taken from the scene by ambulance.
The accident also disrupted traffic on the highway, with part of the road temporarily restricted to allow emergency crews to carry out rescue operations.
